Combating Islamophobia – challenges, opportunities, and best practices

CLAIM, Dokustelle Austria and the European Parliament’s Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup are hosting an online exchange and dialogue with policy makers, civil society organizations and activists to commemorate the EU Day Against Islamophobia. The event is part of the EU-funded project I-Report, which aims at:

  • Promoting a common working definition of Islamophobia
  • Create effective tools and develop standards that improve reporting and documentation of incidents of Islamophobia
  • Raise awareness on Islamophobia in Germany and Austria

Guiding Questions: What are the challenges experienced by civil society organization committed to combatting Islamophobia? What obstacles do counselling services, especially community-led victim support services, face in supporting victims of Islamophobia? What measures are needed to foster systematic reporting and recording of incidents of Islamophobia also on an EU level? What are good practice examples?
